Hierarchy pertains to a logical structure that uses ordered levels as a means of organizing data. A hierarchy can be used to define data aggregation.

It is an ordering of individuals based on rank, authority, or influence. Hierarchy refers to the classification structure where a classification is arranged in levels of detail from the broadest to the most detailed level. Each level of the classification is defined in terms of the categories at the next lower level of the classification.
