Nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries use a nickel electrode and a cadmium electrode with potassium hydroxide as the electrolyte. These batteries are generally in a polypropylene container. As with some other types of batteries, Ni-Cd batteries are often put in series and placed in automotive battery containers.
