Wheat Farming

Wheat Farming - this industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in growing wheat and/or producing wheat seeds.

The types of wheat grown in the US are categorized by planting season - winter or spring - as well as their end use. The grain is usually ground to produce flour of various types. Hard wheat is used mainly in breads and rolls, and to a lesser extent, in sweet goods and all-purpose family flour. Soft wheat is used in sweet goods, cakes, cookies, crackers, and prepared mixes. Durum wheat is used almost solely in pasta.
