Cargo (or freight) is goods or produce transported, generally for commercial gain, by ship or aircraft, although the term is now extended to intermodal train, van or truck. In modern times, containers are used in most long-haul cargo transport.
In the industrial or industry context, "freight" refers to goods and materials that are transported from one location to another, typically by truck, train, or ship. Some examples of freight include:
- Raw Materials: such as coal, iron ore, and crude oil, which are transported to manufacturing plants for processing
- Finished Products: such as cars, electronics, and consumer goods, which are transported to retailers and distributors for sale
