Greenwich Mean Time (GMT, Zulu) refers to the mean solar time as observed from the prime meridian (0° longtitude) at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London, which became adopted as a global time standard.

It has since been suceeded by Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), to which it is approximately equivalent.
