Amethyst

Amethyst is a gemstone characterized as a transparent and crystalline variety of quartz with a deep purple to blue-violet color. The colors are often intermingled in one stone, depending on the qualities inherent in the stone. Other hues include reddish-mauve, reddish-violet, and gray-mauve. It is often heated to lighten color.
