Addressing machine refers to an apparatus used for affixing the addresses on a large number of missives, such as newspapers, upon which the same series of names must be inscribed as the day of issue recurs.

Accordion fold is a binding term describing a method of folding paper which when unfolded it looks like the folds of an accordion. Moreover, it is a term for two or more parallel folds that result in the sheet opening like a fan. Accordion folds are used on products such as brochures and maps. It is also known as concertina fold.

Absorption is a phenomenon that occurs when matter crosses from one phase to another passing through the border surface and in the other phase more or less monotonously distributes itself in a concentration higher than the one within the first phase.

Abnormal hemoglobin assay is described as a device consisting of the reagents, apparatus, instrumentation, and controls necessary to isolate and identify abnormal genetically determined hemoglobin types.

Aggregation is described as the formation of groups or clusters of particles (aggregates) in a fluid. In water or in water-base mud, clay particles form aggregates in a dehydrated, face-to-face configuration. This occurs after a massive influx of hardness ions into freshwater mud or during changeover to a lime mud or gyp mud.
