Position refers to the spatial location (rather than orientation) of an entity.

In an industrial or industry context, "position" can refer to two different things:

1. A job or role within an organization. This includes specific duties, responsibilities, and tasks assigned to an individual within a company or industry.
   Examples of positions in an industrial context:
   • Manufacturing supervisor
   • Engineer
   • Operations manager
   • Sales representative
   • Quality control inspector

2. Location or placement of a product or item in a production process or supply chain.
   Examples of positions in an industrial context:
   • Location of a raw material in a production process
   • Placement of a finished product in a storage facility
   • Position of a component in a supply chain.
